Vienna to host Regional Training Course on Induced Mutations and Supportive Biotechnologies for Cereal Breeding





Under the ARASIA TC project RAS/5/074 entitled "Enhancing Wheat and Barley Productivity through Induced Mutation with Supportive Breeding and Related Biotechnology Techniques (Phase III) ", the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is organizing a Regional Training Course on Induced Mutations and Supportive Biotechnologies for Cereal Breeding in its headquarters in Vienna- Austria during the period 8-19 May 2017.

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with theoretical as well as practical information on mutation breeding and related biotechnologies to accelerate crop improvement and enhancing the efficiency of plant breeding. 

The two- week training course consists of lectures, demonstrations (laboratory and greenhouse) and laboratory exercises on issues like mutation breeding procedures/ methodologies and handling of mutated  populations, rapid generation cycling, doubled haploid techniques and marker assisted selection.
